YEMENI UDON NOODLE SOUP 🍲 A winter special from @goldadelux 💛YES, it‘s as good as it looks, and YES, there is a vegan option without the egg! 🥚🌱

Of course we’re not forgetting Golda’s incredible Sabich.. 🥙 But we are here especially for the Udon, thanks to @marieloverofhummus ’s very convincing recommendation 😘 And honestly it’s just as amazing if not better than their Sabich 🤤 I didn’t think it was possible!

Finished this hearty meal with their beautiful French Brioche Toast with Popcorn sauce🍿

It’s April, but, since Berlin’s winters are never ending.. if you hurry then you might still get your hands on this incredible udon soup 😉

THE GREAT INDIAN FESTIVAL 2023 🇮🇳🌯🧡

The name does it justice - easily one of the best street-food festivals in Berlin for me! 💯❤️ Both the food & the vibe were incredible 🥘🎵🔥

I got to see some of my favourite Berlin restaurants (@moksa.kitchen talking about you 🫵❤️) and discovered some new places that immediately went on my personal MUST-VISIT list ✅🙌

Here’s what we had:

✔️ Vada Pav, Misal Pav & Chole Bhature from @swadishta.de 🥘🌶️🔥

✔️ Kerala Porotta with Beef Curry from @kokoland.de 🫓🥩👏

✔️ Rabdi from @sweetspalace_berlin 🍨😚👌

The Tandoori Chicken that you see here is by Zed from @moksa.kitchen, who is part of the organiser of the event, and it’s the BEST IN TOWN 🍗🔥 We didn’t go for it this time, juts bc we wanted to try something new (and we only have two stomachs between us, sorry Zed 🙈) But it’s absolutely worth a mention 💯🙌

SAVE THESE SPOTS! 👆Every one of the dishes that we had was incredible and I would recommend them all without hesitation!👌❤️ Cannot wait to go the actual restaurants 🥰

SACREBLEU! 🍷 Actually not trying to curse here 🙈😃 @sacrebleu.berlin happenes to be a beautiful wine bar in Neuköln, Berlin 🥰

We had a great time there last night enjoying unique, natural wines paired with French food with Japanese influences. What I loved the most was the concept - after we ordered our food, the Sommelier approached us with a couple of wines that he preselected for our first courses 😍🥖🍷 When we finished those, he made sure that our next course would be paired with his recommendations as well 🥰 The staff is really caring and making sure to do justice to their wines, as this is what @sacrebleu.berlin is all about - educating us about conscious wine choices 🍷❤️

We loved the experience & every single one of our wines & dishes. Their menu is changing every week, so we can’t wait to come back for more! Thank you @foodfightersberlin & @mariepeanutbutter for bringing this place to my attention ❤️

[HOLLY] Mother of Gastronomy! 😱😍We had the most unique & wonderful experience at @holly.gastrobar Berlin✨❤️

Even though it belongs more to the fine-dining scene, this place just radiates warmth 🧡 All thanks to the amazing owners - the multi-skilled sommelier Fernanda Befi, her talented partner chef Simon Guitard & their little boy Ferdinand (who, let’s face it, runs the show 👦🏻). Together with their lovely team, they made us feel very welcome and baffled us with their knowledge of wine & food.

With the sole focus on local & ethical produce, @holly.gastrobar serve modern food, influenced by Simon’s French roots, skilfully prepared with classic & experimental cooking techniques, and beautifully paired with regional natural wines & craft beers. As result, their menu is constantly changing & innovating with each season 🍂

My personal highlights of their current menu were:

🧀 Roasted Salsify with Mornay Sauce, Smoky Cured Egg Yolk, Brown Butter & Dill Oil - this cheesy, complex & yet simple dish is a bit like having fondue, but BETTER 😎🫕
🥩 Hand-cut Beef Filet Tartar with Fermented Potato Mayonnaise, Cured Egg yolk, crunchy Potato Nest & Nasturtium - so finely chopped and perfectly balanced.. Beef Tartare doesn’t get any better than that 🙌
🍰 Basque Cheesecake with Smoked Milk Ice Cream, Black Garlic Crumble & Celeriac Chips - such an unexpected, mind blowing combination of flavours 🤯🧄🍦
🍎 Elstar Apple Sorbet with Sweet Goat Feta Foam, Roasted Buckwheat & Basil Oil - this cooling, sweet (but not too sweet!) dessert was the perfect way to end the the evening 🥰

And that’s exactly what I did on my one day off in Israel on this visit 🥰 Went for Hummus with Dal this time & Malabi with Tahini & Maple Syrup, though I’d try something new! As always.. Elad never disappoints 🙌 Always innovative & so, so good 🤤

Last weekend I’ve made two discoveries for myself💡
☝️Apparently, you can ski in Czech Republic.. and it’s pretty awesome ⛷️AND you can get there in under 5 hrs car drive from Berlin 🚗
✌️One of the best Indian restaurants is located in CZ 🇨🇿 in the mountains 🏔️

On our table:

🍖 LAMB ROGANJOSH - a MUST 🔥 Slowly cooked for 12 hrs in all the beautiful spices, it’s truly a rare find 🥲
🧅 ONION PAKORA - super crispy and juicy, just like they should be 👌
🍗 CHICKEN SATAY - as good as they get!
🥙 LAMB KEBAB - a bit small but mighty! And what a presentation 🙌
🍞 A side of NAAN is a must

I wish we had more space in our bellies for more dishes, I want to try EVERYTHING on the menu! I guess we’d just have to come back soon.. 😉 And honestly, I would to go back just for that restaurant alone 🙈❤️

A few months ago I bumped into cute looking stand at the my local market, selling some kind of liquor 🥃 I got lured in by the nice guys behind it to try some (I never say no to free tastings 🙈), immediately LOVED it and bought a bottle 🧡 Completely by chance, some weeks later they wrote to me and asked to do a little collab. Since I loved it so much, I happily agreed 🥰 The bottle was delivered by one of the co-founders, Marcus, with his self-made bike trolley 🚲 (it’s so cool that it’s worth a mention! 😃). It came in a beautiful package that has recipe suggestions AND a QR code to their own Spotify-playlists that they make with together with artists! 🎵😎

@lokalbynature is an aperitif that uses only natural, high quality I gradients, and has a fruity & slightly herby taste 🍏🌿 It’s perfect on it’s own on ice, or in a combo with some bubbly wine or tonic 🥂 It’s versatile and absolutely delicious! 👌🥰

I can recommend this as a present, as something to bring to a party, or as a unique (local) aperitif for your guests 🍹🧡

I’ve been there in May, can’t believe I haven’t posted this yet 🙈 Everything from the food, to the cocktails and the service was absolutely exceptional 👌👌👌

What we had:

🦪 OYSTERS selection: as fresh as they get and with a twist 🌶️🌱
🥖 SOURDOUGH BREAD & butter: had to ask for the butter recipe, so good!👌
☁️ SCALLOP CARPACCIO, Tomato Consommé & Tulum Cheese: tastes like little clouds of happiness 🥰
🥩 PANIPURI with Beef Tartare, Aioli & Pine Nuts: Flavour explosion! 💥 Best beef tartare according to my French boyfriend ☝️
🧅 ONION TARTE TATIN with Roquefort Cheese Ice Cream: the French boyfriend almost cried 🥹
🥩 RUMPSTEAK with Mustard Seeds & Topinambour Purée: I cried 🥹
🍷THE WINE: We were recommended this natural wine from @mossevins and found out later that the winery is just 30 min drive from my boyfriend’s hometown in the Anjou area! 😱 We loved it and ended up doing a wine tasting there later that summer. Such a great coincidence 🥰

We finished the evening with some cocktails that were too good to have just one 🍸🙈

@shakespeareandsons is one of my favourite cafes here in Berlin. It’a a book/bagel shops 📚🥯 - great books, good coffee and the best bagels. What more can you ask for? 🥰

These are my two go-tos whenever I’m there:

🥯 MESHKA 3: Bagel of your choice, cream cheese with chives, lox, red onion and capers. I’ve always had a love-hate relationship with smoked salmon.. but this one I can have any day ❤️
🥐 BABKA: either cinnamon or chocolate, whatever I’m in the mood for! ☺️

The times when it was difficult to find a restaurant that serves delicious fresh fish in Berlin are gone 🤩 This Mediterranean «Fine Casual Dining» restaurant offers beautifully prepared food made of the freshest ingredients, great wines selection and great service 💃🍷

I’ve been to MontRaw once during the winter, and this time, in the summer, I have to say that I love it even more. Because of their beautiful spacious terrace 🌳🌿☀️

On our table:

🥩 BEEF TARTARE - Dashi emulsion, coriander, chilli, shallots, egg yolk, brick powdered with Persian lemon 🫠 This one is so special.. it reminded more of Ceviche than the classic Beef Tartare. My new favourite dish 🙌
🐟 ISRAELI SAHIMI - Hamachi, preserved lemon, fig puree, chilli, shallot, radish & mint. Nothing like Israeli-style sashimi, trust me👌
🍞KUBANA - Yemenite brioche served with labneh cheese and
grated tomatoes 🍅 Kubana or Saluf bread are a must here 🥰
🥩 BUTCHER CHOICE - Silky mash potatoes, beef jus & green vegetables with a soy sauce emulsion 🤤🤤🤤
🍮1️⃣ MONTRAW’S KADAIF - mascarpone cream, fresh fruits, mint, date syrup ❤️ had it last time and had to have it again 🥰
🍮2️⃣ YUZU AND LIME MOUSSE - Meringue, blood orange gelee, cocoa and pistachios crumble. Personally loved this even more than the Kadaif 😍 The boyfriend proffered the latter 👈

I wanted to go to @uri_buri_akko ever since I‘ve seen Phil Rosenthal‘s Netflix series @somebodyfeedphil about 3 years ago. Uri‘s sea food restaurant is one of the most talked about restaurants in Israel. Uri is known for his raw talent for cooking and his incredibly kind character 🥰 On our visit, he approached each table himself to greet people and make sure that they are happy. I started a conversation with him, and was offered a little tour of the kitchen, to which I of course happily said yes 😃 Uri gave me a couple of little dishes to try directly from the kitchen, and he himself made us a little fried calamari & prawn snack 🦐 What a treat! 🙏

Oh and in case you haven’t guessed it by now - the food was absolutely mind blowing 🥰

BORSH ❤️🇺🇦

A few weeks ago I’ve made my favourite borsch for friends & we’ve all made donations to @cookforukraine 💙💛 My borsch recipe is an altered version of my moms’, who’s been making (and perfecting) it all her life. I don’t use beef stock or meat in it - this makes it lighter and I prefer it this way ❤️

Makes about 6 portions:

2 tbsp olive oil
1 big onion
2 medium carrots
2 celery sticks
4 - 5 medium potatoes
1 big garlic clove
2 bay leafs
3 large beetroots
1/4 white cabbage
2.5 litters of chicken or veg stock (I always use home made - this makes all the difference)
A splash of white wine vinegar
2 tbsp tomato paste
Salt & freshly cracked pepper
Sour cream and chives or dill for serving - I like chives, but dill is more traditional if you prefer.

1. Peel and chop the onion, garlic, carrots, celery and potatoes.
2. Chop the cabbage into thin strips.
3. Peel the beetroot, chop one into small chunks and grate the other two.
4. In a large frying pan, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil. Add all the beetroot together with a splash of white wine vinegar and a pinch of brown sugar. Add about half a ladle of the stock. Cover and let simmer on medium-low heat for about 40 min, mixing occasionally until the colour takes a darker shade of red and the beetroot reduces drastically.
5. Meanwhile, in a large pot heat another tbsp of olive oil on medium-low, add the onion, garlic, carrots, celery, potatoes, and the bay leafs. Season with S&P and cook until potatoes are golden. Make a well in middle of the pot, add the tomato paste and sweat it little, for about 30 sec before incorporating with the vegetables. Add the stock, cover and cook for for about 20 min.
6. About 15 min before the borsch is done, add the cabbage to the pot.
7. Add the beetroot, mix and take off the heat immediately.
8. Transfer into bowls, serve with a dollop of sour cream and freshly chopped herbs. Mix and enjoy ❤️

Two weeks ago I’ve hosted a dinner for friends. I’ve made my favourite Borsh and we all made Pelmeni together 🥟 Instead of all chipping in for food, we’ve made donations to @cookforukraine 💙💛

Bok Choy in Sweet & Sour Spicy Sauce with Fried Garlic & Chillies 🥬🌶🧄 Recipe by @amihai_beer ✨

LOVE Amihai’s recipes ❤️ They have a certain simplicity to them, a lot of freshness & a bit of naughtiness 😇

The bok choy here is simply boiled in water for two min. The garlic is fried with dried chilli in canola oil. The sauce is made of oyster sauce, sugar, hot water water & the drained garlic-chilli oil. That’s it. Super simple and so so delicious.. served with some fluffy basmati rice, this made a beautiful healthy (-ish) lunch 🥰

This here is one of the best regional restaurants that you can find in Berlin ☝️❤️ Go there for a simple lunch with a weekly changing menu (check out their Instagram), or for an adventurous dinner that will make your taste buds dance 💃 Not to mention their great wine selection 😏🍷

🦐 CRAYFISH with pike perch broth & potato mayo - seriously to die for 🔥
🐟 SMOKED BROOK TROUT with purslane, garum - I don’t remember the last time I had fish this good 🥺
🍖 COLD PORK ROAST with sunflower seed tahini, horseradish - like Vitello Tonnato but better 🔥
🌱 DEHYDRATED BEETROOT with sloe berry, labneh & brown butter - yes to all of that 🫶
🍞 SOURDOUGH BREAD with Koji butter & pickled green egg - must have 🙌

Today it’s tied to sadness and hope for better days in my beloved city 💔 3 people were murdered and 14 others injured in a brutal terrorist attack on a bar in Tel Aviv last Thursday, 31.03.22. My thoughts are with their families and my heart is in Israel right now ❤️🇮🇱

@cafe_pilz 👈 this is my go-to place for some Tel-Avivian tapas in Berlin 🇮🇱👌It’s perfect for a late weekend brunch with friends but even better for dinner bc of their great wine list 😉🍷 Also, their prices are shockingly fair for Berlin. if you go with a group of 4-5 ppl then you can easily order pretty much everything off the menu and not leave broke💰

The Gnudi are made with home-made ricotta, a little bit of 00 flour, egg yolk, Parmesan, Lemon zest and just a bit of mustard. They turned out super soft & fluffy, just perfect for a simple mushroom sauce like this 🍄 The lemon zest gave everything an extra kick 🍋👌

This dish is perfect accompanied by good wine & great company 😉🍷@foodfightersberlin 😘

This place is all about house-baked bread 🍞 pastry 🥮 & PIES 🥧 All made and accompanied with local fresh ingredients 💛💛💛 I’ve had take-away pies here numerous times and they’re always delicious 🥰 This time I went for the Canadian-Style pancakes with bacon & maple syrup - so, so good! 🤤

Go there for lazy, easy-going (aka hangover 😅) brunch with friends on a weekend, grab a table outside and enjoy the sun on a quiet Fhein street ☀️

FYI, they don’t take reservations, but it’s usually not too full from my experience ☺️

🥩 Asian Style Beef Tartar - Coriander Mayonnaise, Pickled Egg Yolk, Pickled Onions & Toasted Sesame Oil 👌
🥔 Potato Galette - w/ Poached Eggs, Wild Broccoli, Hazelnuts & Frankfurt Green Sauce 💚

I also recommend trying their famous Crispy Chicken & Waffle - I’ve had it before and it was really really good 🍗🤤

Honestly, if I could I would try everything off the menu 🙌 Great spot for a small group to share a few dishes 🍳☺️

Traditional Chinese breakfast at @siio_siio2021 🇨🇳✨ “I did not expect to find something like this in Berlin. This place is as authentic as it gets👌” - quoting my neighbour @tristan_ts65, who moved to Berlin recently after spending quite a few years in Beijing 😊

Having never been to China myself, I’ve never had anything like that (especially not for breakfast 😬🥐☕️), and didn’t know what to expect. So I’m glad that I brought an expert with me 😃

@siio_siio2021 opened their weekend brunch buffet just about a month ago, and already became hugely popular with the local Chinese community in Berlin. The all-you-can eat brunch buffet is open every Saturday and Sunday between 10 AM and 15 PM. There you can find all kinds of delicious dumplings (Jiaozi & bāozi) 🥟, Sticky Rice Dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves (Zongzi), fried dough sticks (Youtiao), soup 🍲, traditional street-food savoury crepes (Jianbing, MUST TRY 🙌), and much more. All for just 10€ per person 🤯💰What a feast! 😍
